In primary school I always loved the first few days, because it meant that I was getting the most coveted of treasures to put in my schoolbag: a fresh box of Crayola crayons... rainbow in a box! As a kid living in Quebec City, Canada, my world was blanketed in white snow half the year, and dreary in spring, needing some serious colors. Fall would arrive, and regale my eyes. Especially on rainy days, as the foliage would be glistening in these gorgeous shades of red, oranges and gold. Maybe it is the reason why highly saturated colors is a source of joy for me. As a jewelry designer, I marveled at the colors of precious stones. Mother nature juxtaposes intense colors and it triggered an explosion of joy in me. This is what energizes my studio time, the simple joy of colors. In 2015, I left the jewelry world to finally pursue my dream of painting full time. First very tentatively and now it it feels right so it’s full steam ahead! I paint with acrylics as they feel right to my paintbrush, Mixed Media is where my artistic progression is taking me and I love every minute of it. Especially the mistakes, as they usually are the beginnings of uncharted territories. That is why I call my style “Saturated Fun”. You will notice that my artwork is full of very ordinary objects that I use in unusual ways. My use of pennies, wood letter tiles and thumbtacks are a very good example of that. Ideas are always presenting themselves and I will toy with them for quite a bit before starting a new project. Painting birds is a passion, such elegant creatures with soft textures of the feathers is something I do for days. I also recently started to paint in a more animated way, giving life to fun characters I see every day. Nostalgia is common in my work, and that present itself in vintage cars and the use of wood letter tiles. Humor and witticisms are the bridge I use to engage the viewer. Seeing little kids and adults alike, finding the hidden objects throughout my art, truly delights me, saturating my world with JOY.
