About The Artwork

I am interested in the relationship between symbols and the possibility of meaning that they contain. This work is inspired by concepts held within wabi-sabi (侘寂) The process for me is very important. I add and remove textures and marks until a form appears which I then develop (a piece of work can take months of re-working) This work was produced on Natural white water colour paper (300g) with a smooth surface. I used a variety of materials including, high quality acrylics / pastels / (colour) pencils / ink / ink stamp(s) / gesso /spray paint. I graduated from Gray's School of Art (The Robert Gordon University) in Aberdeen and have exhibited throughout Scotland, in Maastricht (The Netherlands) and in Tokyo (where I lived for almost a decade) including at The National Art Centre Tokyo in 2015 (太平洋展、国立新美術館) )
