Yoruba Woman Traditional Drummer Painting

In Africa, women play many roles even in music. Playing this type of Yoruba drum is not common amongst women, but there are exceptions lately. This woman was playing to the delight of guests at the installation of a Yoruba in King, which was captured by me photographically in 2005. The most populous black nation are the Yoruba ethnic group. They traverse, Nigeria, west African countries and in the Americas in Cuba and so on. The drum here is called Iya Ilu ( literarily the leading drum in a Yoruba musical ensemble) Note: This painting goes with the my other earlier painting here the "Yoruba Drum Iya Alu", both good for twin installation as diptych, as they both have same vertical size.
