Zebras moving in a herd into the horizon – what a magnificent sight! This painting captures a glimpse of this view, focusing on one of them, while the others fade into the background, leaving space of imagination. The conception of this piece was to use ink and rice paper to create life, a scene that takes us far away, to set us off on a journey to a place where the sky is grand and the ground all embracing. We were all supposed to have been children of such a place, but growing up surrounded by the concrete and iron removed all our original marks. The painting took me back, even for a moment, this small adventure meant everything – I was set free.
