ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Yes, I love sketching and painting! Daily. I´m inspired by my muse, have some drinks sometimes, and a permanent lust expresses itself during weird times. I can´t wait to put another sketch into a picture. It will always be a pleasure to paint naked skin and women. At home, I sketched, and took a couple of photos, just to have them beneath the sketches. I found a vintage-styled frame with the right size. I got a fitting piece of wood and whitened the wooden surface. I put greenish-blue as a color back on the wood. Then I transferred the sketch from the paper onto the surface with a brush with oil paint. The whole thing took me about six sessions to express my mood and finish the idea. I enjoyed particularly this one, it was so much fun. It is complex. I realized the picture, back on a sunny spring day in May this year in 2020. This is the third painting of a three-piece series. Sketching & painting during my childhood, my imaginations were like a full-color film, happily inspired when I got a pen or brush in my hand, just to work out my thoughts with my own hands since I can remember. Take away the gray to paint how I like it, every day! For me, life in the 70s, when we were in an analog world without digital gadgets, was easy to look for confidence and happiness. Art became a real challenge to express my thoughts, to visualize my ideas. After attending regular school, graduating from the University of the Arts in Hamburg, back in the '90s, I have been working as a freelance illustrator for more than 30 years until today, and I am still passionate about it! I have worked for advertising, book publishers, and filmmakers. To make a living, I deal with creating and sketching all the time: animatics, sketches, layouts, storyboards, and illustrations.
