Often I paint in in a way that embraces both chance and failure. I cast paint by hand in a way that mimics the sewing of seeds like grass seed, where i scoop up liquid paint with my hand and cast it out onto surfaces on the floor. This is state of meditation at best where i pick colors intuitively and work dozens of surfaces on the floor at the same time. Some of these work immediately and I stop the process right then others I continue to work stopping when it seems there is something there. Often, paintings seem terrible at the time of painting but in the process of pooling and drying, some strange magic can happen whereby a terrible undecipherable mess morphs into something unknown and amazing to me. A few paintings don't work at all and dry in state of crumminess that often approaches the divine and they are even more special than the ones that seem successful so easily. My art I would say is looking back after the fact seeing what might be there or not and cropping something out or figuring out which way is up although that too is personal and different people see different things in a different way. This process is mediative and exciting, finding what magic the painting fairies may have left quietly as a surprise. I feel like sometimes the very rotation of the earth is painting these painting and they are truly earth art, the very earth itself making art, deciding how things should be and what they should be like.

My work is very different from one to the next. Lately I have been making action stain paintings on acid free water color paper. I like capturing unknown surrealist landscapes that occur by chance. I can't tell you much about these magical places but they hold my interest long term and I am held in a perpetual state of wonder about where they might be and what they mean. I always include two free ones with any purchase to reinforce the leap of faith entering this world.
