-Smiles Are Essential-
I prep my mostly large canvases with a black skin, the contour lines are not drawn or painted but usually are the unpainted back ground.
It takes layers and layers of under-paint to get from the black to the light parts of the canvas. A time consuming technique but resulting in a rich Texture. Composition and balance are very important to me and in this work the diagonals are important. So are the round shapes of the cat's back and tail, the woman's hair and even the shape of her blouse. There is more happening than you think at first site, my clients tell me the paintings grow on them.
