Grey scale paintings. I also call these series of grey scale paintings, F for fake. The title F for fake comes after an Orson Welles’ film from 1974. In this film, the value system of art, its construct of lies and certainties which are granted as what we believe to be our culture, are examined through the figures of various forgers. The grey scale paintings, F for fake, are paintings which evoke the painting style of a contemporary well established painter, but in this case, the imagery for the paintings comes from several documentary films dealing with class struggle and the image of what could be called “the people” in Argentinian filmography. The paintings were first exhibited as part of research project from Universidad de Avellaneda, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This painting is also part of a nine part panel painting.
