This series of oil paintings are inspired by World War analogical photographs. They represent quotidian scenes of civil society within the city and inthe battlefield. They have been taken to record a moment of history and beauty within the horror; they distance us from barbarism and place man and woman as the center of nature. For these canvases, I employ the grisaille as the basis of painting to highlight its origin and the moment of the photographic capture - reverting its own functionality to underscore reality-. The painting manages to neutralize the instantaneity of the photographic shot. In itself, the painting reflects on the story told by each image. When considering the whole series, we may wonder if the landscape it depicts is as dark as it seems.if The time of each stroke, of each decision, is the description of each line that was not written.
