My 50s childhood is part of the inspiration of this and many of my paintings. A retro feel and a collage style to which I hope the viewer will bring their own associations, memories and interpretation. Hand painted in acrylic on canvas. The surface is built up with many layers of pigment to achieve a very flat uniform and hard edged finish.

I was born in 1952. Originally from London I've lived in St.Ives, Cornwall UK for over 30 years. I began painting in the 1970s and have been exhibiting since the 80's, I studied briefly at the Hammersmith school of art in London. I've always been fascinated by the Golden Age of popular culture & some of the imagery that finds it's way into my paintings comes from this period. I find the distance of time brings about a poetry that greatly appeals to me and which I would describe as nostalgia without sentimentality.
