These paintings are made with natural materials – clay, bitumen, and graphite – and their shifting perspecitive offers the close-up of a waste landscape covered with dust or ashes, where the horizon line tends to disappear. In the artist’s intention, the act of painting reproduces here the process of geophysical or archaeological investigation. While executing these paintings, Partengo has developed an interest in sculpture, working with building materials such as stones, dry clay, concrete. Blocks of material are buried and later extracted from the ground like fossils or ruins of the present age, in order to explore the dark side of the anthropic environment.

The purpose of artistic research is the recording and documentation of temporality. Locations, materials, actions, become witnesses the flow of time. Anthropization of the landscape, thought ideally as the continuing stratification of the memory of the earth, is investigated iconographically in the lower parts that make up the image. The changes and the roughness of these maps of landscapes are reproduced by the overlap of signs made with graphite.
