If objects have a soul, then it must be made of the material that composes them and these objects have the power that comes from their logic of construction. My paintings are imbued with the strength of emotion, people's encounters, gut convictions that remain anchors, even during storms that calmed...

ART AS A FORMULATION OF DESIRE
Painting is a manifesto, a pictorial concretion showing something of the artist's commitment
in the world. I chose to indulge totally in this experience when I was 40. From "The
emergence of darkness" (L'émergence des ténèbres) to "The mad wisdom of love" (La folle
sagesse de l’amour), my painting is imbued with humankind, with the voyage that is each
encounter. This path is the one I draw like a possible formulation of my desire, since living
and painting have become the only and imperious way to be.
After spending years satisfying my hunger for foreign places, now I want to continue the
intensity of this adventure in France and go meet contemporary art lovers. Painting is a
pleasure that is shared because it assumes there is a beyond: the other, whether it be a man or
a woman, who is also fascinated and attracted by the expression of that uniqueness that
echoes in her/him.....The presence of writing in my works, with the same creative power as painting conveys the
strength of what animates me, just like as many possibilities to express themselves in a
language that belong to them. Following the example of prehistoric men who needed to leave
trace of their existence, when I am alone in my painting studio, I have the need to keep a trace
of each day passing by.
I still work with personal documents, whether handwritten or printed, I guiper on handworked
backgrounds which I then use for an automatic writing that becomes pictorial signs.
What I like in that visible, but not always readable, writing, is the dynamics it shows, the
emotional intensity it expresses and that everyone can appropriate it. It is a kind of narrative
topography showing the presence of other worlds, and implicitly, an impulse towards that
evasive object of desire. Evocation and provocation of deep inner movements, the artist's and
the viewer's, are aroused by the sensitive composition of forms, colours and materials that
3
make an allusive painting, whose major concern is painting "things that are behind things", on
the undefinable but known horizon.
The use of writing produces the conditions needed to display a veiled intimacy. Thus it
creates an intermediate space suitable for genuine human encounters through a certain idea of
culture.
