Contact us.Piotr Barsony is a French artist born in Toulouse in 1948. Among other things, he is a painter, a visual artist, an illustrator or even a cartoon creator. Having studied art in the distinguished National School of Fine Arts in Paris, the artist is now obsessed with 'the lights produced by television screens'. His artistic references cover a broad scope of art history: from Michelangelo to Anish Kapoor, and include Basquait, Ingres and Moebius.
Describing his work in a few words seems almost impossible, as the diversity of his art practice proves to be so rich. He is fond of materials such as paper, cloth, rhodoid to highlight his pop colours as well as his sometimes supernatural lights.
Parallel to his work as painter, he pursues a career as cartoonist, illustrator, songwriter and author: He co-wrote the script of "Visiblement je vous aime" which was part of the offical selection of the Cannes Film Festival 1995 and wrote lyrics as well as scripts for video-clips of French singer Arthur H. He also wrote screenplays for TV short-movies. Recently he created a comix for the perfumes by Thierry Mugler.
His work was exhibited in Artcurial, in the Nadine Nieszawer galery, in the CNAP (French Nationa Centre of Plastic Arts) and the Pompidou Centre.
