In 2009, Hamu Isen invented a unique technique of mixing acrylic paint and clay, fixing it directly to the support by hand or with a spatula, and finally scraping off the surface. The unique feature of this technique is that the surface is scraped off after the paint is fixed. In other words, the color and shape of the painting is not known until it is scraped off. With this technique, he creates a state where the conscious and unconscious intersect. He is interested in the boundaries between paternity and maternity, order and chaos, consciousness and unconsciousness, artificial and natural. He also uses these comparisons to explore Japan's unique culture and identity. He often creates abstract forms using the silver ratio and golden ratio and is often inspired by motifs related to Japanese culture ( Shimenawa-Rope, Snake, Lightning, Nature, etc.).

For me, art is about embodying beliefs while at the same time shedding light on the 'blind spots (shadows)' behind those beliefs. I need to look at everything that shapes my beliefs. Some beliefs contain biased information due to social conventions, education, and sometimes even brainwashing. What I thought was light can also be darkness if I change my perspective. The challenge is how to make the two coexist."
