The painting "Viral Equality" originated in 2020 amidst the rise of Covid-19 in Europe, prompting governments to impose lockdowns. Life underwent unprecedented changes, with self-testing for Covid-19 becoming commonplace to adapt to the "new normal." While philosophers debate the justification of these measures, hindsight often provides clarity. Following the pandemic, the challenge emerged of repurposing previously collected Covid self-tests into a commemorative artwork. The red background symbolizes both the strength of our society and the lives lost to the pandemic. Each test, whether positive or negative, represents an individual. Only upon closer inspection, the result of the tests becomes apparent, reflecting the inherent equality among people, regardless of their Covid status when looking at them as a collective.
