Amaya F. Fariza (Bilbao) holds a degree in Fine Arts. Her work belongs to contemporary realism, where emotion, memory, and everyday scenes converge. Through painting, she explores the relationship between reality and imagination, drawing inspiration from nature, the human figure, and atmospheres charged with mystery and romanticism. Her creative process begins with photography, which serves as a structural and conceptual base for her compositions. She combines elements of reality —objects, figures, environments— with colour as a central expressive force, creating pictorial spaces where foreground and background merge into a personal visual language that often moves beyond pure realism. She has worked with various techniques, including oil, watercolour, tempera, pastel, and charcoal, maintaining a constant interest in technical and conceptual exploration. Her practice is defined by the construction of unique visual universes rather than a single fixed style. Among her most representative series are Soledades, dreamlike interiors where vegetation inhabits domestic spaces; Paraísos, tropical compositions filled with symbolism and atmosphere; and Summers, scenes of young women on the beach that evoke memory, light, and nostalgia. She is currently developing the Presencias series, where the human figure and floral elements coexist in symbolic spaces that explore intimacy, transformation, and the presence of the unseen. Her work is held in private collections internationally and she has been a finalist and award-winner in various painting competitions. She also has extensive experience as an art educator and artistic director.
