Painter, Illustrator, Multidisciplinary Artist
Imane Kamal Idrissi is a Franco-Moroccan artist born in 1984 in Casablanca. She discovered her passion for art early on, thanks to her father, Moulay Noureddine Kamal Idrissi, a former student of the Beaux-Arts of Casablanca. Imane grew up surrounded by art, helping her father prepare canvases and observing his creative process. Inspired by his teachings and her fascination with the works of great masters like Van Gogh, she picked up her first brushes and began her journey as an artist.
Imane's artistic style is characterized by its diversity and innovation. She works with a wide range of techniques, from oil painting to collage on unconventional surfaces such as canvas, wood, and plexiglass. Her unique approach often incorporates materials like glitter, fabric, and banknotes. Notably, she pioneered a technique of creating multi-layered portraits on superimposed transparent and opaque plexiglass, exploring perspective in a groundbreaking way.
Beyond painting, Imane also ventured into illustration, co-authoring and illustrating a series of children's books with her close friend Elian Hawkins, an architect and writer. Together, they translated and brought to life stories that resonate with young audiences.
A Recognized Talent
Imane Kamal Idrissi's work has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Morocco, South Africa, and Mozambique. Her talent has earned her prestigious opportunities, The widow of Nelson Mandela, Mrs Graça Machel who invited her to participate with a Portrait of her first husband “Samora Machel” president of Mozambique to celebrate his memorial with other african artists. Imane was also a guest of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco at the 19th Throne Day celebration. On this occasion, Imane presented her letter of allegiance and concluded the ceremony with a distinctive artwork: a portrait created using her signature multi-layered plexiglass technique. This masterpiece is now exhibited at the Royal Palace in Rabat.
Imane also left her mark in Mozambique by painting a mural at the Ghassan Ali Ahmad Training Center in Maputo, commemorating its founder. and was invited by Minister of Culture to start cultural collaboration between Mozambique and Morocco after assisting one of her exhibitions at BCI BANC headquarter Gallery in Maputo, This large-scale work symbolizes her ability to merge cultural and emotional depth into her art.
