you will never fly Painting

Music, gender, consciousness and memory are entangled with my artwork. I’m also fascinated by paradoxes and dualities like space/time or idiot/savant. You might find me trying to turn a circle inside out, pawing at a flickering chaos/control of deadly hysterical frightening beautiful manic (ir)rationality. Specifically comic to me is the desire to visually ‘fix’ the un-fixed… the Human Condition I suppose. Language and music are usually present in some part of my process and personal memory is unavoidable, sometimes coalescing into hybrids of film noir characters, mythical archetypes, cartoon idiots, people I’ve known (or not), merciless earworms. Following my experience as a musician and performer, much of my work is editing, restraining the temptation to say everything at once, and laughing at the certainty of derailment. What interests me most is often invisible.
