Art Description

Photography: Color, Metal, Digital and Manipulated on Aluminium.

I recently began shooting 'landscapes' using a daylight version of my photoluminism technique. This involves manipulation of both lens and camera in a long exposure. This background was shot this way. I then felt a need to add some realism which would in effect create a somewhat surreal image. I began with trees. This is the first of a slightly different series using other objects plucked from their original settings and inserted into my new world. The boat and puffin were captured separately in Newfoundland. The seascape was originally the Delaware River. I love the glow of the light, the peace of the water and mystery of the cloud/wave that towers above the scene. It feels quite surreal and yet the puffin flying into the distant blue sky seems to bring an element of of reality that one can adhere to. The picture is printed onto matte white aluminum, an incredible surface that looks like my favorite hot press paper but requires no glass for protection and lasts longer than a giclee print.
