Ngminvielu Kuuire

Ghana

Ngminvielu Kuuire is a Ghanaian photographer and a digital artist living and practicing in Accra, Ghana. She is inspired by her everyday life and uses her personal experiences of existing as a woman who is ‘different’ _to interrogate and explore established social systems within the Ghanaian context.

She was awarded the Portraits Ghana Photography Prize in 2017, organised by the Embassy of Netherlands in Ghana and Nuku Studio. In 2018, her work was
Ngminvielu Kuuire is a Ghanaian multidisciplinary artist, working across photography, digital artist and filmmaking, living and practicing in Accra, Ghana. Her work explores established social systems on identity, sexuality, mental health, gender and social roles within the Ghanaian context through deeply personal and symbolic storytelling.

Ngminvielu creates evocative visuals that invite viewers to confront their emotions and embrace vulnerability. Her work is a call to freedom; the
freedom to be, to speak, and to feel without restraint.

She was awarded the Portraits Ghana Photography Prize in 2017, organized by the Embassy of Netherlands in Ghana and Nuku Studio. In 2018, her work was shortlisted as one of the top 10 finalist in Ghana for the Kuenyehia Art Prize for contemporary artist. Her documentary work has also been showcased in film festivals across the world.
