About The Artwork

The 'Children in a Tree’ series is from my recent winter trip to India in 2022. Their daily lives and my mother’s are deeply interwoven, so I get to spend time with them during all my visits. They go to an open air school in a park, where they can have a free meal and classes are held under the leafy shade of the trees, and in the sunshine when it’s cold. But these photos document the one activity that takes place immediately after school. It’s playtime and they climb trees. They. Simply. Climb. Trees. They are so present and their minds so liberated. I gain much clarity in moments like these. I’m able to see through it all, like all the veils have been stripped away. All the things, thoughts, opinions, and knowledge that we so desperately desire to accumulate and cling on to, do not matter. I think the natural world and children, in the same space, and the purity they bring, can have a subliminal effect. This photograph is printed on Hahnemuhle Photorag fineart archival quality paper (308 gsm). It's a premium quality acid-free cotton paper. This artwork comes in three sizes - Small, Medium and Large. The other two sizes are listed separately.
