My love for photography came at an early age and led me to a very successful commercial career. Now retired it continues but now with images I love to create as fine art. “Hogg” is my last name and one which has drawn lots of giggles over a period of time but it’s that name which has inspired me to now sign my images as “OGG”. This is not because I’m tired of the giggles but it’s pride in the name and how it I decided to sign my images because of my father’s career with Hawaiian Airlines. He was a pioneer pilot with the airline flying the Sikorsky flying boats through the DC-9 jets and in that time period he help the FAA create the navigational aids or VOR’s for the islands. The FAA honored my father with the airport designation for Maui as OGG. When you fly to Hawaii and to the the island of Maui your tickets and baggage claim tags with be OGG. So you see I have pride in my name and my family background so it’s fun to sign my images OGG. Certainly don't want to leave my mother out as she was a very fine artist who painted in oils, water colors and later was doing her own serigraphs and etchings. Being born and raised in Hawaii and our family there since 1888 it was natural for her to be inspired by the beauty of Hawaii. In doing so she was one of artists to have created the images for the first "Aloha Shirts" which are now sought after and copied by many. It was also through her that I learned my love of art and have pursued that in my photography. She is gone now, but would so have loved her to see what I'm doing as I'm sure she would be proud as again it was her inspiration that made me pursue the fine art in my photography. I'd like all to know that whatever proceeds come from my Fine Art Photography will be donated to one of several charities which include our troops, schools in need and animals in need. I'm fortunate to have had a successful career in photography and now hopefully my work can help those that have not been so fortunate. Look closely as there are subtle nuances in all my photo/art images. I have vast experience in printing and my images are worked extensively and as seen once printed will far exceed what you see here online. Hope you enjoy!
