About The Artwork

The dynamic contrasts concept is derived from the free movement of an artist within a space that their form would otherwise not have been accepted in. This is the first of three capoeira portraits taken at a listed building in St James' park where a whole network of hidden passages allowed 'workers' to serve without being seen. Capoeira being the secret martial art disguised as a dance lends itself to a space that would never have witnessed the roots of its conception even though it inspired the same.
