The lone tree at Milarochy on the side of Loch Lomond in the Scottish Highlands, very early on a Winter's morning when the sun had not yet risen. All was blue, all was calm and very, very quiet. The name was inspired by the fabulous ultramarine blue colour of this image. "Blue has no dimensions, it is beyond dimensions, whereas the other colours are not. They are pre-psychological expanses, red, for example, presupposing a site radiating heat.. .All colours arouse specific associative ideas, psychologically material or tangible, while blue suggests at most the sea and sky, and they, after all, are in actual, visible nature what is most abstract." Yves Klein People often say that my images look like paintings because of the richness of the colours, the depth of the black and the texture of the materials I use. I work with Canson materials. Canson have been supplying artists for 450 years - Degas, Matisse, Warhol, Picasso, Ingres, Chagal, Miro.... an endless list of artists use their materials.

I live on top of a cliff on the Isle of Skye in the far north of Scotland; a place of inspiration, myth and legend. In all kinds of weather, I am to be found on a clifftop or by the beach with my camera. When I discovered long exposure photography back in 2011 and how it captures the subtle magic of early dawn light I was hooked. Here was a way for me to capture the beauty of light, a myriad of colours and make them my own. I am self taught in Photography using my researching skills to delve into the technical side of things using magazines and books for guidance. I love experimenting and started with my impressionist style images back in 2012. The rest of the Photography fraternity (or so it seemed to me at the time) was focussing on just how sharp you could make a photograph and measured success in terms of technical ability. I rarely saw blurry images or creative photography published in magazines and certainly not in photography exhibitions or competitions and so I carried on experimenting in my own little world with no thought to exhibiting. Having moved home three times to find the place I wanted to be, I now have a lovely studio on top of a clifftop with a view of hills and sea, sheep and green fields. Winters are harsh and very windy but my access to the Scottish Islands where I tend to spend a lot of time is easy from here. I am lucky enough to have a patient husband, four dogs and a stray cat and my life revolves around making and playing with painting and photographing the landscape.
