Echinops. This image is from the series of flower portraits I have made called Plantae Secreto. I've used a type of light called a Beauty Box that is normally reserved for Glamour/Portraiture work because of the soft nature of it's luminescence. I was given some Tulips as a gift from my friend Veronique who was a florist in Paris before she moved to the UK. She mentioned that Tulips are often more interesting to look at closely when they are past their best, rather than when fresh. After the Tulips I've photographed many other flowers, some from my garden, some bought and some given. This Echinops was given to me by a neighbour who had been told of my work with dried flowers. During Lockdown I photographed flowers; it was without risk and I really enjoyed it. So much so that I carried on with the 'portraits.' These are Lilies left on my doorstep by my next door neighbour. The Image size is 79cm x 52.6 printed on Innova 315gsm Smooth Cotton High White Matte paper using Epson Ultrachrome HDR inks. Paper is A1 size - 84.1cm x 59.4. Signature, Date, Title and Edition Number on Verso. Sent with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Born in 1955 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and could not wait to get away. Spent time after finishing an ignominious school career in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan Pakistan, India and Nepal. Then studied Photography at Sheffield Poly, starting in 1979. Did Teacher Training and taught for 1 year at a school in North London which was more than enough. Subsequently worked for Warner Brothers in a non photographic capacity and the BBC both Teaching and Photographing. I have recently returned to working with traditional, wet processes alongside digital. The images in my portfolio start in the 70's and go through to the present day.
