"Euphoria of the Wind" captures a moment of pure evanescence, where the artist's body, wrapped in an ethereal dress of tulle and crochet, seems to defy the laws of gravity. The use of a slow shutter speed creates a blurred motion effect, transforming her figure as if she were about to take flight. ...

About the Artist

Alethea Mattos

Spain

I am Alethea Mattos, a graduate in fashion design from Senai CETIQT. Since 1996, I have dedicated my career to developing my fashion brand, creating handmade garments using crochet techniques. Sustainability has been the cornerstone of my work from the beginning. I have always sought to explore textile techniques, focusing on crochet as well as the recovery and transformation of textile waste, using craftsmanship as a tool for empowerment and providing job opportunities to women at risk of social exclusion.
Currently, photography is playing an increasingly important role in my work. I believe the world doesn't just need another dress; rather, textile creation and photography are shaping my current work, especially regarding ancestral memory, legacy, and autobiographical visual storytelling. My photographs reflect what I observe in my environment, as well as my personal experiences that influence my work and the exaltation of beauty.
Nature and my affective memory are my main sources of inspiration, nourishing both my art and my photographs. I capture images of my surroundings to then establish a dialogue between my textile and photographic work.
