Toni Herger observing the mountains. Urnerboden, Switzerland "It is in the rich tradition of storytelling that Romano P. Riedo has concentrated his creative efforts for the past three decades. He gives us images of intimacy and unassuming magnitude as people of modest means create their lives from the land. His images not only record ephemeral moments, but also invite the viewer to delve into a deeper place of meaning and understanding carried within those moments." Franz Carl Nicolay, photographer, writer and teacher, director Edwards Art Gallery, New Hampshire Wild haymaking is a form of making hay which is commonly used in the alpine region, especially in Central Switzerland, in high located areas with steep hillsides and which cannot or only hardly be reached with animals. This practice of grass harvesting is not riskless. The meadows where wild haymaking is practised are usually collectively owned, and the corresponding regulations are set by a co-operation. Toni Herger feeds his cattle during winter time with the hay he's gathered on the steep hills in summer.

Switzerland
Swiss based artist and photographer working in the fields of FineArt, editiorial and advertising. Winner Swiss Press Photo Award 2014 (Reportage). Individual shows in museums and galleries. Publisher and author of fineArt photography books. Exhibition curator. Ausstellungsmacher. Looking for international gallery representation. "The work of P. Romano Riedo proves that photography retains its own domain (...). Every single image condenses an emotion, concentrates (...). It provides information and traces that last. It supports memory, it keeps time and light. Despite its accuracy, it causes dreams and evokes imagination. " Ch. H.
