I made this photograph in the place where two of the main rivers that cut through the city of Recife, Brazil, meet. The Capibaribe River and the Beberibe River. There are always canoes anchored there, which are from the fishermen who inhabit the nearby shores. So, I framed those that were grouped together and made the photograph, which is a record not only of the means of transport that this fishing community uses, but also of a work tool.

Martiniano Ferraz is a Brazilian artist who lives in Recife, Pernambuco. It was during holiday trips, while still working as an architect, that he was charmed by photography. Nature, architecture and the urban are the themes he usually photographed. From 2020, while isolated in his home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Martiniano Ferraz began to produce also geometric and abstract digital arts, where it is common to have vibrant colors and three-dimensional effects. One of its greatest sources of inspiration, in the use of color, is the art produced by the Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes.
