ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I shot this portrait of art legends Gilbert & George on a specially commissioned trip to Southend-on-Sea, one of their favourite outings on the UK coast in Essex. They were being filmed for director Ian B Macdonald's third in a trilogy of Gilbert & George day trips. Amazing subjects and on fine form, the highlight of the day was a pier live rendition of their trademark song 'Underneath the Arches'. Their insights into art, politics, religion, sex and numerous other subjects is frank, honest and missing from most art dialogue these days. Still a breath of fresh air. Printed on exhibition quality c-type photo paper with a small white border and delivered in a protective tube with certificate of authenticity.

My work investigates the beauty in the everyday or ordinary and presents a view of the world that you may not have seen before. Susan Sontag who once said: To collect photographs is to collect the world...they alter and enlarge our notion of what is worth looking at. I whole heartedly agree with this and am always amazed at what photography can reveal. I recently attained a distinction in MA Fine Arts and began experimenting with mixed media and different photo techniques which is something I want to explore more. Based in Hackney, east London, I regularly travel for my work, the last amazing trip was to India in 2023, a truly mind blowing place.
