Born in Düsseldorf, Germany, Jochen Cerny draws upon a rich artistic lineage that shaped his distinctive visual language. His grandmother, an avid black-and-white photographer, instilled in him a fascination for detail and tonal nuance, while his father’s close collaborations with iconic figures such as Charles Wilp introduced him to the creative synergy between art and commerce. Although his professional journey initially led him into international banking, Jochen’s true calling — photographic art — never faded. A meaningful reunion with childhood friend and world-renowned photographer Andreas Gursky rekindled this passion, affirming his creative potential and inspiring him to fully dedicate himself to his artistic career. Cerny’s signature CMPB technique, developed and refined over years of experimentation, has become the hallmark of his visual identity. The method unites multiple post-production approaches to selectively manipulate color without distorting the object’s essence — resulting in compositions that are simultaneously bold, harmonious, and deeply evocative. Rather than narrating a traditional story, his works are designed to transform and enliven interiors, infusing them with energy through sophisticated color interplay and spatial resonance. Over the past years, Jochen Cerny’s works have garnered increasing attention from collectors and curators worldwide. His photography has been recognized by international juries, earning distinctions at prestigious competitions including the Trierenberg Super Circuit, Monochrome Awards, Viewbug. and multiple photo magazines. His limited-edition pieces have been successfully exhibited and sold in Germany, London, Paris, Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and New York with several works now part of private and corporate art collections across Europe and Asia. Each of Jochen Cerny’s editions is meticulously produced to museum-grade standards, ensuring both aesthetic integrity and long-term value. As his international presence continues to expand, his art stands as a compelling intersection of technical mastery, emotional depth, and collectible potential — offering discerning collectors an opportunity to engage with a truly distinctive contemporary vision.
