Art Description

Photography: Color, Digital, Giclee and Photo on Paper.

Image size: 84cm x 63cm + 90mm border.

From the Lost America series; examining a quiet stillness in a forgotten landscape that is, in a sense, ‘on-pause’. A detailed, melancholic and alluringly unremarkable outlook.

Gold Mercedes, Palm Springs: Many corners of the American landscape have thrived, displaying antithetical wealth and comfort in the face of adversity. For those, secluded in their untouchable suburbs: everything is as it should be.

When I photograph a scene, I capture everything in focus from foreground to background. This is a long process where I capture many frames at different apertures. After processing the raw files, I then blend the images together to create a seamless image that is sharp across the frame. The file is then put through hours of further processing, colour correcting and tests before printing the final image.

A beautifully detailed, giclee print on Canson Rag Photographique, uncoated, cotton stock. The paper is especially chosen for its qualities that help enhance the idiosyncratic nature of the image. I typically cut my borders down to 70mm, however, the print comes with a 100mm white border which allows plenty of room to frame.
