ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Happy Family is a thematic series of oil paintings that I am constantly working on. With the title 'Happy Family' I refer to the underlying 'theme' of these portraits: sad, in thought, introverted, hilarious and so on. People who have to do with what I call 'Time between seconds'. The expression on the face 'trapped' at extremely defining moments in life that pass you by in a split second. On the back the portrait is dated and provided with a name and signature and A Certificate Of Authenticity. The work is equipped with hardware to be able to hang it directly on the wall. This work is painted on thin plywood mounted on a wooden frame at an angle of 15 degrees, as shown in the attached photo gallery.

I live and work in the Netherlands, creating art from my home studio in Amsterdam. My primary focus is on portrait painting, but I also explore abstract forms and enjoy drawing regularly for variety. My inspiration comes from what I call "the time between seconds"—the fleeting facial expressions that capture pivotal moments in life. This concept also informs my abstract work, which, unfortunately, isn't featured on this site. The portraits I create often draw from archives and various sources of inspiration, featuring individuals I don’t personally know or have met. This distance allows me the freedom to explore how each portrait can resonate with the viewer’s imagination. I aim to challenge the audience by evoking emotions and reflections on their own experiences. Ultimately, I hope to offer a moment of recognition and connection. Enjoy my creations!
