This Installation I put together 6 months after my Best friend killed herself because of heroin addiction. It took me some time to get clean after that happen, but I quit opiates and I wanted people do know how it actually feels to have an addiction like this. To educate the uneducated and to speak for those who can not. The installation is painted all white to give a institution feel, the needles I places by hand one by one, they are met to give a overwhelming closed in feeling and like cell bars, the middle wall I painted black hash marks like prisoners count days. This installation has been set up twice, one for Parsons The New School and for the DEA in Newark, NJ. I would like to make it a traveling installation in the U.S to speak on the opiate epidemic. Please message me on here or my IG @emilystrange_art if your interested in the installation. Ty for looking

E.Strange (Emily Strange) was born in Columbus, Ohio. At a young age she found herself involved in anything creative, including throwing pottery, creating stained glass pieces, and selling art at festivals. She started teaching herself how to paint in 2008 while working to get her GED at a homeless shelter in NJ. Her first painting was featured in an art show in 2009 and since then she has shown her work in a number of different galleries, exhibits, and solo/group shows. She has worked in all mediums, with strengths in photography, painting, text, mixed media, installation, and video. Emily moved to New York City in 2010 to study at Parsons The New School of Design and graduated in 2014 earning her BFA. While studying at Parsons, Emily worked as a freelance photographer, with her photography featured on album covers, websites, and magazines, including Timeout New York. Emily is now a full time artist in Brooklyn, NY using her art as a voice to educate the uneducated on the struggles people like herself go thru, to give hope to people, and to speak out against what’s wrong (politically) and try to make it right.
