Juan, Peggy and Batman 4th of July 2018 - Limited Edition of 25 Photograph

Juan is an artist who makes jewelry for sale at Venice Beach. My daily bike ride took me past his van several times before I actually got to meet him, and I took several photos before I felt I close to him. He is here with his pet ferret Peggy. Batman guards his van from a roof rack--an El Serape figure has since been added. The dashboard sign advertises a brand of mescal Juan has a great personal dignity, and when I gave him a print of himself he wanted to respond in kind. So I received a crystal amulet on a return visit, and he was greatly relieved that he was able to return the favor of the simple print I gave him. Image size is 11" x 17" printed on 13"x19" paper. I used Canson Baryta Photogaphique paper to print this. This is a digital capture, but the paper emulates a darkroom print with a warm tone to it.
