Digital C-print on Kodak Pro Endura glossy premium paper. Signed and numbered on accompanying label, in a limited edition of 12. other sizes available: 60x90cm edition of 8 120x80cm edition of 6 from my current solo exhibition 'Reclaim the Feminine' artist statement: As women we are conditioned from an early age that what’s most important about us is the way we look and the way our body feels in someone else’s hands. We are nothing if we aren’t aesthetically pleasing and act humble about it. Breasts are the most objectified and sexualized part of women’s bodies. You can literally buy breasts as objects in novelty stores, on amazon, in sex toy stores, etc.. Once I had come across these rubber balls made to look and feel like the real thing (only perfected in an eery unattainable way) I knew I had to photograph them. It is a playful way for me to explore my own internalized sexism, and how it has shaped my relationship with my own body. Because even though I know all images of women’s bodies I see in the media have been tampered with I’m still trying to look like those images. I know they aren’t the real thing but that doesn’t stop me from hating my body for being “just“ that. Media constantly dismembers, packages and displays women’s bodies for the purpose of selling really anything: cars, burgers, beer, weapons,.... body issues, self-hate, insecurity,... We have been objectified to such an extent that we are no longer seen as human beings but as sexual gadgets. We have been separated from our whole. Turned into a commodity. Femininity has been so far removed from our nature that it has become alien to people. Something they are afraid of. Something that needs to be controlled, censored or concealed as if it were a looming threat. But I believe the real threat is the imbalance that has been cultivated from this patriarchal society. So I am calling on femininity to come and take back its place. Its rightful place next to masculinity. To make us all whole again.

SLEEK Magazine: "Multi-disciplinary artist Annique Delphine is making serious waves in her hometown of Berlin at the moment. Her recent solo show “Reclaim the Feminine” featuring her ongoing series “Objectify Me” was a huge hit – the humorous yet serious approach to questioning the boundaries female artists must break through to express themselves well received by her audience. Delphine’s work promotes female sexuality and aims to avert from the male gaze, something that she states is “always intuitive rather than premeditated” ----------------- Bullett Magazine: "Annique Delphine flips the male gaze on its head. With absurdist images and surrealist GIFs, the Berlin-based artist explores sexuality and female objectification using disembodied breasts. After working as a model in her youth, she decided to reclaim her identity, and found strength behind the lens. Since then, she’s crafted hyper-feminist imagery that challenges traditional notions of what it means to be a femme. Delphine questions the never-ending fetishization of the female body, taking ordinary images and giving them a kinky edge. Through her milk-covered roses (which are actually drenched in varnish) and her boob-filled dessert spreads, she reclaims femininity in her own pink-hued way." --------------- Annique Delphine is a multimedia artist and feminist. Her work includes photography, video, installation and performance. Delphine’s work has been exhibited worldwide in cities including Berlin, New York, London and Los Angeles. Her Film „PLETHORA“ won Best Experimental Film at both the Toronto Arthouse Filmfestival and the Verona International Film Festival. She has held workshops on overcoming body issues and the censorship of the feminine body in Los Angeles and Berlin. Often using her work as a way to overcome her own traumas, she believes in art as a way to promote personal and collective healing. Delphine’s work focuses on the politicization and censorship of the body, feminine symbolism, sexuality, our relationship with nature and our obsession with social media and self image.
