Created in Galicia, Spain during the COVID-19 pandemic. During my confinement in Galicia I couldn't stop doing, making and creating, and although I knew that everything I was creating was ephemeral, the process of making it brought me so much joy and hope that I began experimenting with things I had around me. You can see the results in these two pieces: the “Time Lapse Series: Lemonheads COVID 19 Special Edition” with lemons and branches from my garden's lemon tree “passing by” and old door, and “The secret life of Lemonheads” a real imaginary building in which one could just imagine the secret life of this magical and unique community: the Lemonheads... I originally conceived this piece with the same process I use for my Time-Lapse Series, which is taking pictures and then combining them into the final piece to be printed in photographic paper as part of a Limited Edition. (Please note that this piece is also available as a Limited Edition Archival Pigment Ink Digital Print). But then, because of the ephemeral and organic story behind it, I began experimenting with other formats, like the one presented here, in which I printed the Lemonheads in Museum Quality Canvas, then I soaked it in water, then I let it dry. After that I decided to fringe the edges, and after thinking about how to frame it to showcase the details, I ended up buying the wood and the paint to create the kind of frame I had in my mind... The finished piece is an original Lemonheads with an original frame. All made from scratch....

Xan Padrón (Ourense 1969) is a Galician photographer living in New York City. He received his first camera at the hands of the photojournalist Enrique Reza, who awoke in him a passion for the photography of the everyday, just as his father, the journalist Luís Padrón, awoke in him the patience to listen and observe stories. After diverse street photography projects in New York City, in 2011 he began his acclaimed project, “Time Lapse”: a collection of portraits of various cities through the people who inhabit them. His series Time Lapse has been exhibited, among other places, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, The Pfizer Building in New York, the Sala Valente in Spain, and in the art fairs Photo LA, Art on Paper NYC and The Other Art Fair, presented by Saatchi Art in London, New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Chicago. In 2023, Xan Padrón was invited by the MTA Arts & Design Program in New York City to exhibit a selection of his Time Lapse series at the Bryant Park subway station (42nd Street & 6th Avenue). His work has been featured in the cover of many international publications, including the cover of the autumn catalog of Saatchi Art (2019).
