I was born in Singapore at a time when she was still a developing third world country. Being a part of Gen X, I had the opportunity to observe the joys and woes as we transition into a developed country and global financial hub. As we continue to evolve, amidst the glooming shadows of globalization, many of us often face moments of contemplation, despair, doubt, fear, hopelessness, loneliness and other nerve-wrecking emotions. Regardless of whether a person is rich or poor, young or old, healthy or sick, most of us are not spared from these dreadful emotions. But even in the darkest nights and loneliest corners the cinders of Love will continue to burn and the morning light of Hope will eventually arrive. The spirit of holding onto Hope, in times of despair, greatly influenced my artistic development. And it forms my affinity to harsh lightings and sombre mood. I use photographic images and when necessary, composites, so as to transcend beyond traditional photography and to fully express my creative intentions. "Each creation is like a child to me ... precious and unique." --- Vincent Liew, MBA ...
