ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Summer Maekawa iris festival in Itako has various attractions apart from the spectacular Iris displays and related themes. Traditional weddings are also staged to profit from the floral backdrops with lavishly dressed brides arriving by boat on the many surrounding canals. I managed to get up close to one as she arrived, coyly looking up as I approached and as expected for a young Japanese bride. A memorable scene of contained elegance and joy.

I was born in Trinidad and Tobago and travelled all over the world with my parents before settling in The UK for my education. I went to Sherborne School and Reading University before moving to London to be a photographic assistant to many different photographers including Anthony Blake and Spencer Rowell. Then I moved to Australia to further my career in photography that is now 35 years long as a commercial and art photographer in Sydney. I have had several exhibitions including Transformation 1992, Lifeforce 1996, Sahaja 2000, and have completed new spiritual works, The Chakras, 2014 that are shown here on Saatchi Art. I now also teach photography with Alfonso Photo tours in Sydney.
