The 'Alchemy of Pattern' is a series of photographs inspired by a trip to the Northern Patagonian ice fields. A breath-taking glimpse into this magical and rapidly changing landscape. The melting of the glaciers and the mysterious natural forces that create such intricate and simple patterns. One of the remotest glacial areas in the world, I took a plane, a car, a boat and finally a canoe to reach The Marble Caves. So many layers and so much depth and texture, with multiple tones of blue and creamy whites. Nature is the true artist, and there seemed to be an alchemical process at work, combining an organic transformation of water, light, limestone and other natural materials along with the most important factor; Time. The more I looked, the more I saw a repetition of pattern. We are at such an important tipping point with mother nature, the environment is declining at a rapid rate. To become conscious of the patterns we repeat in our lives, our connection to nature and our reliance upon it is necessary. I knew what I was seeing was a rare opportunity and I wanted to capture the beauty of the accelerated changing landscapes of these ice fields. When we are connected, we care and we want to look after it. Making a strong connection and recognizing our patterns, and our fragility within mother nature will change our future on this planet. Printed on Hahnemühle Photo Silk Baryta 310gsm paper. A white, silk gloss baryta alpha cellulose paper that gives the impression of a traditional silver halide photo paper. The unique barium sulphate coating ensures an extraordinary image result. With its increased tonal range and sharper image the paper's unique glossy surface lends itself perfectly to Kashfi’s brightly coloured textured images enabling creamy shades of white and velvety deep blacks. Your print is produced by one of the top printers in London or Rio de Janeiro. Kashfi will personally proof check and sign the artwork which comes with a certificate of authenticity.
