ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Miami No. 1 and Miami No. 2 were shot in the exhibit booth of a German gallery at the NADA Art Fair during my first sojourn to Art Basel Miami Beach in 2006. I knelt down and hovered close to the surface of the display table where gorgeous clear and colored transparent acrylic geometric sculptures were exhibited. Absorbing the objects and atmosphere of the room, I created several ethereal abstract photographs of the "still life" of sculpture before me. These still life are readymades, objects found in the exhibition space and given a second life in my photographs. My review “Art Basel Double Take: Miami’s Cultural Change” can be read online at Big Red and Shiny’s website: The following year I had the great opportunity to exhibit my abstract photography at The Art Now Fair, Art Basel Miami Beach represented by Schoolhouse Gallery.
