Contact us.Multi-media artist, Ricardo Maio, was born in Bahia, Brazil. From a very young age, he lived and traveled throughout the entire country in search of experiences and inspirations. His works range from portraits, advertising photography, 3D, video, and cinema.
His first contact with professional photography was through Brazilian writer Roberto Freire, a friend who introduced him at the age of 18 to important Brazilian photographers such as Walter Firmo, Luiz Garrido, Peter Feibert, and Ana Lontra Jobin within the Econews Agency in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2004, the publisher Clio released the book "Pão de Açúcar, a marca do Rio" featuring his landscape photographs and texts by Nilza Resende.
Currently residing in Barcelona, he works in the field of photography, cinema, and video for advertising companies in Brazil and Spain.
Having the body as the central theme of his recent works, he seeks through bodily expression the mimetic and poetic alignment between space, light, and gesture, finding the image through words and poetry.
