About the Artist

Benjamin Ochse

Germany

Born in Freiburg, Germany, and raised in Berlin, I studied design at the Lette Verein and trained in fashion, graphic, and later film design. I graduated with a degree in Museology in 2022 and completed a Master’s degree in Heritage Film at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf in 2025.

I don't read words and letters; I read in pictures and writing in images. My mother, Hildegard, passed on to me her gift of art photography - she was my paragon and mentor before she passed away in 1997. I understand my images as documentary, social-political, and conceptual art.

My photos and paintings are statements of situations in my life. I'm not taking photos for their beauty or fashion. My images are storytelling; I want to make people think.

I am the recipient of a curator scholarship from House Lukas Ahrenshoop for the funding period of 2021.
