ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This aerial image showing the mountains coming out of the Ica Desert by Nazca in Peru, and was captured from a light aircraft. At this size print it really is a statement piece, slightly abstract and eye-catching. We were told when we arrived in Nazca that the best way to get a look at the Nazca Lines was by air so we headed to the airport and chartered a small plane together with another couple of tourists. A bit unexpected but it turned out to be a great experience even despite the heavy turbulence making the passenger next to me having a second taste of her lunch - I found the turbulence quite exhilarating however, almost like a fair-ride. This is more an overview of the surrounding desert, although you can see some traces of the Nazca lines. I really like the shape of the emerging mountains coming out of the desert bed and the contrast between the red mountains and the light, almost white desert. I also love the shapes created by water in the sand like a myriad of rivers that once flowed there. The birds-eye-view of this very arid desert landscape makes for some quite abstract and minimalist looking aerial landscapes. Although as mentioned a bit unexpected and also a bit of a dent in our travel budget it turned out to be a very memorable flight to view the Nazca Lines. A signed print from a limited edition of 25. Printed with a white border to accommodate framing/mounting and the signature - the actual size of the printed image is 223.5 x 146.1cm. Beautifully Giclée printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper with an illustrative/ painted feel. Technology: Epson UltraChrome HDR Wide Gamut Inks with archival life expectancy: 40 years daylight, 200 years in dark. All prints are professionally printed to ensure the absolute best quality and consistency.

Delivery Time:

I am a freelance photographer based in London. I enjoy a big love for travelling, which not only takes me around the world – with many great new images as a result – it's also a continuing source of inspiration which influences and feeds my passion for photography. With a background that started with drawing and illustration, which in turn lead to graphic design I believe the foundation of the way I compose my captures is very much affected by this. I often look for very graphic compositions with strong lines, large areas of strong colour, negative space and pushing the boundaries of traditional rules of composition. There is also a different approach to the way I like capturing my images when it comes to more travel reportage images. Still looking to isolate my subject, either by using shallow focus, leading lines, concentrating of light, picking out splashes of colour, and other techniques. Most images are very much as a spectator, fly on the wall if you like - I generally don't like posed images. I feel I get a truer picture when I don't interfere, but also I'm not hiding in the distance with a tele-lens - I like to be close to my subjects in plain sight.
