In my photographic series "Surfaces, Spaces, and Shrines," I explore the unseen places of the city and capture the textures, marks and colours of abandoned architecture and spaces. Using both digital and large format film cameras, I explore the materiality of the urban landscape - the peeling paint, rust, brick, and concrete - and compose these elements into abstract, painterly images. These compositions highlight the unexpected beauty found in the decay of the built environment and the subtle nuances of colour and form. All print editions are giclée printed using original pigment inks on certifiable archival, acid free Hahnemühle cotton rag photo paper. Large prints (Edition of x5 + x2-AP) Image size: 960mm x 640mm (25.2 x 37.8 inches) Paper size: 1120mm x 855mm (44.09 x 0 inches) Small prints (Edition of x10 + x2-AP) Image size: 640mm x 426mm (25.2 x 16.77 inches) Paper size: 760mm x 546mm (29.92 x 21.5 inches) Please contact Saatchi Art if your desired option is not featured on the website.

Fine art photographer, Michael Wyeth is based in Cape Town, South Africa. He began exploring urban architectural spaces and environmental surfaces photographically in the mid 1970s. His use of zone system early on, allowed the development of a method of precise pre visualisation of the final result when confronted with the selected subject matter. Also creating a consistent level of intensity, form and detail as a result of the process. The symbolically transformational nature of the urban exteriors examined within the work, began to vividly shape the identity of his creative focus. This formed the basis for his first solo exhibition, ‘Surfaces, Spaces and Shrines’ in 2009. Since then he has continually sought to refine this meditative process over many years, allowing it to influence his subsequent work.
