Han Lee captures moments that we have perhaps seen, but never pondered. Born in Singapore of a Dutch father and Chinese mother, Han Lee was educated in London. Inevitably he belonged to the clan of outsiders, those who observe before they act. He started an English Literature degree at Goldsmiths, University of London, but he already had a camera in his hand. It pulled him towards his future profession and he gained a degree in photography. A career would follow in portraiture and fashion. His work was published across national newspapers, by the BBC, Britart and a plethora of magazines. The National Portrait Gallery has exhibited his photographs. Now his subjects are found along the way. Han Lee is compelled to seek out the moment when the commonplace is somehow disrupted, revealing a strange beauty.
