ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Sequential photographs of the ground walked upon, during a journey on foot from Bridge 56, on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, to the infant river Colne, just above Tunnel End, near Marsden. The path passes through mixed woodland and in part along the towpath of the canal, with various 'clues' along the way as to the history of the area; a small area of cobblestones, or the remains of a hinge for a stop-lock gate. Individual 'pairs' of photographs are also available from all of the 12-image pieces, even though I may not have managed to upload separate images of them all yet. 'The Marsden Collective': A studio based in Marsden, West Yorkshire, and home to three artists. Howard Selina, Richard Pike, and Katerina Vitkus. Howard was born in Leeds, in West Yorkshire, and after living and working in London for many years, he finally made the move back to the north in 2006. Around 2010, after taking on a workshop space next to Hanson's, the musical instrument makers, he met two other artists who were looking for a studio space... - and so the partnership with Richard Pike and Katerina Vitkus began.
