About The Artwork

Limited prints in 85x50cm are printed in Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta paper 325 g/m² and are hand signed on the back. The work is shipped very carefully packaged in a protected tube and includes a certificate of author authenticity. This artwork was inspired by my passion for water and swimming. It also reflects my love for my profession, architecture. I’ve always been fascinated by underwater spaces, the shapes and lines the water takes and forms with each movement. In this specific case, the lines are contrasted with the squareness of the swimming pool walls. The pool acts as a container of movement, speed and an experience of constant change. The work reveals a body half in and half out of the water, in the moment of jumping into the water.

Beatriz Minguez is a Spanish visual artist. Water, Sea, Energy, Time and Space are the keywords of her works. She started taking pictures in an obsessive manner since she was 11 years old and was then gifted with her first camera. In 2015, she opened her own studio allowing her to focus deeper on the more personal projects and commissions. Her vision researches on the representation of the underlying energy found in landscapes. In some projects, she highlights the human figure inhabiting the spaces. Beatriz did 12 years of classical ballet, explaining her passion for photographing herself dancing underwater, where there is no gravity. Beatriz’s passion is the sea - it’s in the family - and spends 2 months each year living on a boat ever since her childhood. Her video art pieces and multimedia installations have been awarded many times in international film festivals, and she has recently been commissioned two public artworks. She also participates regularly in Art Fairs, Exhibitions and Festivals. She graduated with a masters in History of Art at the University of Barcelona and then moved to London to pursue Architecture at the Architectural Association School. She practiced architecture at OMA - Rem Koolhaas and EMBT - Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, architecture offices. She collaborates regularly with other artists such as Robert Wilson and Alex Ollé - La Fura dels Baus, and with cultural centers such as CCCB in Barcelona.
