"Tangled Histories" Photograph - Limited Edition of 5

I am a multidisciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in continual exploration across media, particularly photography, film, and new media. My formal training in Fine Art at Karachi School of Art laid the foundation for my aesthetic sensibilities, while my master’s degree in Filmmaking from Kingston University London expanded my perspective, granting me the ability to interlace narrative with visual form in transformative ways.
Over the past two decades, I have immersed myself in the worlds of media and photography, spending ten of those years honing my craft in London. This exposure to diverse cultures and practices has enriched my art, enabling me to blend traditional and contemporary techniques into thought-provoking, multifaceted works. Teaching for nearly nine years at various institutes, and as a full time Assistant Professor at the Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture since 2020, has further broadened my creative and intellectual horizons. Mentoring young artists not only encourages me to revisit the fundamentals but also to remain responsive to emerging ideas and technologies.
My multi-disciplinary approach seeks to dissolve boundaries, embracing both new and time-honored methods of creation. Whether working on still images, moving pictures, or interactive media, I aim to capture the subtleties of human experience, moments where personal and collective narratives intersect. These ideas were central to my solo exhibition at the IVS Fine Art Gallery in October 2024, where it gave me an opportunity to reflect on, and challenge how we perceive and engage with our surroundings.
Ultimately, I see art as a form of dialogue, a vibrant exchange that spurs empathy, invites curiosity, and prompts reevaluation. Through my work, I strive to catalyze deeper connections among individuals, communities, and the ever-shifting landscape in which we live.
