ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This image forms part of a photographic series which explores the pristine coastlines and enchanting Indian Ocean islands of Mozambique, a country found on the eastern shores of Africa. With an untouched coastline of over 1,535 miles of indescribable natural beauty, this little-known country has been called the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean” Over the past decade, internationally renowned aerial photographer Jay Roode and her husband Jan have flown the length of Mozambique photographing the unspoiled wildernesses, and cultural heritage of this Indian Ocean paradise. Jay’s photography endeavors not just to document scenes but to capture the poetry and the art of nature. In Mozambique and down the east coast of Africa, wooden fishing boats are called dhows. They have been handcrafted in the same way for thousands of years. Each morning they head out over the shallows into the open seas to fish for their families. We are passionate about using luxury museum quality papers that hold their colors for a lifetime. People often comment that the Aerial Art portfolio pieces look like paintings, due to the depth and richness of the color and texture of the materials used. ABOUT THIS IMAGE This image is printed on fine art archival paper with a 2 cm white border and is shipped to you unframed. Each print is accompanied with a limited edition signed certificate by the artist. PRINTS WITH PURPOSE A percentage of the sale of any Mozambique print will be donated to a marine conservation non-profit called Fundaçao Likhulu working closely with communities and marine conservation projects in this unique country.
