Founder of Archetypal Liminal Painting. Author of the bilingual catalogue "Le chiare verità", part of a complete online archive of artworks and writings available at :gianfrancoamodeo.it
Gianfranco Amodeo is an Italian visual artist from Salerno and the founder of Archetypal Liminal Painting, a theoretical and visual research that explores the threshold between image, memory and archetype. His work develops through painting, photography and mixed media, creating symbolic spaces where personal experience encounters collective imagination. Figures, traces and materials are not conceived as representations of reality, but as manifestations of deeper psychic and cultural structures.
Drawing on Jungian psychology, and mythology, Amodeo investigates the transformative power of artistic creation. The artwork becomes a liminal field, a place of passage where visible and invisible dimensions, memory and vision, presence and absence continuously interact.
Alongside his painting practice, he developed Mirror of the Echo, a photographic project based on reflection, visual metamorphosis and the active participation of the observer. Through this research, photography transcends documentation and becomes an instrument of symbolic revelation.
His works are held in private collections and documented in "Le chiare verità".
